Biography

Hans Koreman's work is many-faceted. He is not only a popular photographer of weddings, but he is also a much sought after documentary photographer within business and academic world. During his 'shoots' nothing is formally arranged: much is left to chance. He works unobtrusively, responds rapidly and instinctively to what he sees, thus ensuring the most artistic images. With shots such as these Hans Koreman launched a striking new style in (wedding) photography.

His first jubilee as a succesful photographer was celebrated in 1999. Under the name "Taking the plunge" his work was exhibited in Gallery nine in Amsterdam. Intriguing captions such as "A nip of Spa", "Up goes grandma", "The peeping bride" and "Thijs and his ex" made clear that Koreman's photos are miniature anecdotes.
In 2001 he exhibited at Staalbankiers in Leiden with 'Welgelegen', and in 2004 the exhibition "Dress to impress" travelled from the castle in Mill to the Erasmus University Faculty Club and BDO in Leiden.
Also in 2004 the book "een échte Koreman / a true Koreman" came out. ISBN 90-901 8011-7.
In 2006 Hans had an exhibition at Schelde Marine Scheepsbouw, Vlissingen.
In 2007 his second book was published: "Zo goed? / Like this?" ISBN 978-90-9021662-1.
In 2008 he had a solo exhibition Dutch Humour in Gallery 91 in The Hague.

Reviews of the work of Hans Koreman have appeared in Dutch newspapers as De Telegraaf, Het Parool, Het Algemeen Dagblad and Het Leidsch Dagblad. The editors of Cosmopolitan ranked him among the top 4 wedding photographers in the Netherlands.

Hans Koreman was a keen photographer at school and Leiden University, where he studied history. Shortly after having acquired his Masters degree he decided in 1988 to devote himself entirely to photography, and turn his passion into profession. Assignments followed: first from university-friends as they celebrated their degree-days, then couples needing a stylish photographer to cover their weddings, and finally from corporate clients and university.
